Crouse Memorial Chapel

Policies and Procedures

Revised November 14, 2023

About the Chapel

The Crouse Memorial Chapel was dedicated in 1993 for the enhancement and promotion of the religious heritage and life in Bay View. During the season, the Chapel is open daily for meditation and prayer. Communion is served each Sunday at 8:45 a.m.

The Chapel seats 80 comfortably. The use of the Chapel for baptisms, weddings and memorial services is for Bay View members and their extended family, faculty and staff. Bay View members have priority.

A member of the Altar Guild shall be present for all scheduled religious services. Services held outside of the eight-week Bay View summer season will be at the discretion of the Director of Worship and Religious Life. They will not be the responsibility of the Altar Guild.

Procedures

Requests for use of the Chapel follow these steps:

  1. All those wishing to hold services in the Chapel shall obtain an application from the Wade Administrative office.
  2. The completed application shall be returned to the Wade Admin Office and then reviewed by the Director of Worship and Religious Life.
  3. After acceptance of the event, and the date(s)/rehearsal(s) are secured, fees must be paid at the Russell Hall Office. Only then is the date guaranteed. The request for dates will be scheduled in the date-order in which they were approved and fees were paid. These Special Events will be limited to just one per day. The Wade Administration Office will send information to the Altar Guild.
  4. The schedule of fees is as follows:
Service Type Bay View Members Non-Members
Weddings $300 $750
Memorial Services $150 Higher fees apply
Baptisms $75 Higher fees apply
Honorarium for Officiant $250 (recommended)

Requests for use from non-Bay View members may be allowed. Higher fees will apply.

The Director of Worship and Religious Life must approve all clergy. A list of available clergy may be obtained from the Wade Administration Office. If you wish your own clergy person to participate in any way, that clergy person must be a minister or cleric or religious practitioner who is ordained or authorized to solemnize marriages under the laws of the state in which the minister or cleric or religious practitioner resides.

Musicians

The use of the Chapel organ and/or piano is to be pre-arranged with the Wade Administration office. A list of potential musicians is also available from the Wade Administration office.
